FAQs about peony roots
Peony roots are sold as bareroot pieces with a minimum of 3-5 eyes
Peonies can be planted in northern climates up until the ground freezes
We will offer pick-up at our home the weekends of October 7/8 and October 14/15 2023 from 10 until 6
We will ship orders beginning on Tuesday October 10th 2023.
It is important to plant peony roots at the proper depth - eyes should be 2 inches below the surface of the soil. If planted too deeply, peony plants will not bloom. If planted too shallowly, peonies are likely to heave out of the ground over the course of the winter.
At planting time, we amend the planting hole with a small amount of bone meal and a well balanced (5-4-3) organic fertilizer. We then add a small amount of compost on top of the planting hole to as mulch.
